The school

An Orthodox school within walking distance of every home in the village, and within sight of the church its students worship in. The vision: a classical Orthodox education — Scripture, the lives of the saints, real books, music, Latin or Greek, and daily participation in the prayer life of the community — combined with what almost no school in America can offer: a working farm as a classroom. Students who serve in the altar in the morning may be moving cattle in the afternoon.

Seminary-level courses for adults

Depth in the Faith should not require moving to a seminary. Zadruga will host seminary-level courses taught locally — evening and intensive formats in theology, church history, patristics, liturgics, and pastoral subjects — taught by qualified clergy and instructors, open to community members, young adults in the ministry house, and Orthodox Christians from across North Idaho.

Who these courses serve: laymen who want serious formation without leaving family and work; young adults discerning a vocation; readers, choir directors, and parish servants seeking training; converts and inquirers ready to go beyond introductory books.

The teaching community

Because teachers live here too. One of the quiet advantages of a village with affordable housing and a working farm is that it can attract and keep the kind of instructors, clergy, and tradesmen-catechists that scattered parishes can rarely hold.
